3SS and Microsoft Azure Cloud

In 2019 and 2020, 3SS moved its global infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Azure is active in 54 regions and 140 countries, which allows us to scale when needed and still maintain data residency for our customers. EU data, for example, remains in EU-based datacenters to meet the guidelines of GDPR. 3SS maintains operations in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe using 3 primary Azure sites and 3 backup Azure sites.

The datacenters within a region are physically separated in multiple availability zones, each being equipped with independent power, cooling and networking. This arrangement yields high availability and low-latency replication. Disaster recovery and backup is also available within the same data residency boundaries.

The Azure cloud computing platform offers a level of security, reliability and scalability not available in a traditional data center. To date, Microsoft has spent over $1 Billion on security. The Azure network is both segregated and secure – data on the platform is always encrypted in transit and further encrypted by 3SS when in transit on the Customer network. The secure Management network has built-in mechanisms to protect against attacks and is constantly monitoring traffic on the network.

Microsoft Azure has over 90 compliance offerings and certifications, the most in the industry, including compliance with one of the world’s toughest regulations, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Microsoft employs over 3,500 global cybersecurity experts to safeguard the business assets and data in Azure.

For clients, the Azure cloud offers the highest physical and logical security for their data and gives 3SS the ability to scale up virtually to meet any increased demand.
